Director Sourcing Excellence

What are you going to do?

The Director Sourcing Excellence is part of the Procurement Leadership Team and reports directly to the VP Sourcing. He or she is a change leader and is accountable for defining and implementing processes, systems, tools, policies and capability development programs across Mediq. That includes the Supplier Relationship Management policy, Commodity Strategy Development process and deployment of negotiation tools.

Mediq Sourcing is upgrading its system landscape by implementing an ambitious digital roadmap. This position will be process owner for E-Sourcing and E-Contracting throughout the Mediq organization, including new contract templates, approval flows and sign off procedures. This role will also lead selection and implementation of other tools like e.g. Guided Buying, Sourcing Analytics and Supplier Management.

The Director Sourcing Excellence will lead the ESG program for Responsible Sourcing. And will manage outsourced service provider(s) to execute supplier audits to secure compliance. He or she will identify critical competences, develop assessment tools and define a capability development program in cooperation with Mediq HR and Learning &Development.

The suitable candidate brings strong leadership by converging deviating views into a coherent approach. This person inspires the organization to change. And drives cooperation and standardization across geographies categories and functions. The role is highly visible throughout the organization and requires effective communication at all levels. 

Key responsibilities:

Digitalizing Sourcing

  • Remain up-to-date on innovative technological developments and benchmark the internal organization against external best practices
  • Develop, maintain and align the roadmap for digitalization of Sourcing at Mediq. And select appropriate IT Systems for implementation
  • Process owner for E-Sourcing and E-Contracting.
  • Manage our outsourced service providers in Europe and Asia

Supplier Relationship Management

  • Drive the creation of Sourcing Strategies per category with the category leaders
  • Implement a supplier classification with a clear supplier relationship management process
  • Create a clear supplier ownership structure
  • Lead Sourcing through internal and external audits

ESG & Compliance

  • Lead Sourcing in the ESG committee interacting with ExCo leadership
  • Define, align and implement the ESG strategy for sourcing at Mediq
  • Drive results in responsible sourcing

Competence Development

  • Identify critical competences within sourcing
  • Define a competence development framework
  • Develop an assessment tool to identify training needs
  • Develop and provide training in sourcing excellenc


What is your background? 

Functional skills & Expertise

  • Knowledge and experience in procurement principles, methodologies, processes and tools
  • Knowledge of IT landscape, state-of the-art e-procurement tools, systems and solutions
  • Ability to drive and manage innovation and change processes and make it “happen”
  • Ability to be persuade, negotiate, collaborate, communicate with individuals, stakeholders throughout the company at all levels

Education & Experience

  • Master’s degree
  • More than 8 years relevant functional working experience
  • Experience in mid-size or large multinational companies with a matrix organization
