We are looking for an ambitious Financial Controller, who is going to strengthen our H&R Healthcare organization.

What are you going to do?

As Controller at H&R Healthcare Ltd (H&R) you will work in an ambitious and energetic organization which is growing and developing. The position reports directly into the Group Finance reporting line (Senior Business Controller Mediq Own Brands) of Mediq, with a dotted line to the Managing Director of H&R. You will act as business partner for the Managing Director of H&R, the Director Mediq Own Brands (MOB) &  Export and, of course, the local H&R team. The role as Controller H&R is a broad and diverse role which combines core financial accounting, reporting & control activities with business/commercial controlling, financial planning & analysis and several (finance related) projects. You will also be expected to provide decision support to the team when needed. The role is expected to develop further over time in line with the (growth) ambitions of the company. Mediq and H&R are held by a Private Equity company and will give you a lot of opportunities to show initiative and improve existing processes as well as underlying  business performance. At Mediq/H&R you will also be challenged to develop yourself and take on different responsibilities over time. The ideal candidate has a (Post) Master’s degree in Business Administration or Finance/ Economics, preferably a Qualified Accountant, and has a minimum of 5 years of relevant working experience in Controlling and Auditing. Consulting experience would be welcome. You will also need the right drive and ambition to make a difference at both H&R and Mediq.  

  • Preparing (local H&R) monthly management accounts:
    • Review monthly turnover and reconcile to sales reports
    • Review product profit reports and discuss any GP anomalies with management
    • Review stock cut off and discuss with purchasing team
    • Post monthly journals onto Sage for month-end adjustments
    • Investigate any variances to budget
    • Attend Quarterly Business Review, including Minutes of the Meeting
  • External financial reporting:
    • Prepare the statutory year end accounts, reconcile and prepare schedules and analysis of all balance sheet entries. Assist the auditors with year-end audit. Submission of the company accounts to Companies House.
    • Prepare corporation tax calculations, submission of the company tax return to HMRC, assisting with HMRC queries. VAT and Customs returns
    • Prepare and submit the P11D’s for company benefits, P46 (Car) submissions for changes to company cars provided to employees
    • Filing of confirmation statement with Companies House
  • Implement Mediq control framework ‘lite version’  & implement Mediq accounting policy
  • Coordinate/lead financial and business planning & control cycle (actuals/budget/forecast/strategy). This  is including accommodating the monthly reporting process to Mediq with tight deadlines and clear deliverables (a.o. financial statement upload into Cognos Controller and compiling monthly management report/comments based on monthly BI report).
  • Owner for working capital forecasting and cash planning and reporting / analysis / improvement processes, incl. hedging of FX exposure (in close co-operation with Group Treasury).
  • Setting up and maintaining reporting on operational KPI’s (complaints, overdues, productivity, sick leave, etc.
  • Financial link for (transformation) projects, M&A, inventory optimization, implementation ABC costing model, analysis and advice of investment and commercial proposals, perform post investment reviews, ad hoc analysis and projects
  • Actively support strategic decisions by means of sound business analysis
  • Cognos Controller and Cognos BI (super)user. Sage system ownership (functional). Administrator HSBC banking access rights and authorisations.

What is your background?

  • (Post) Master’s Degree in Business Administration or Finance/ Economics, preferably a Qualified Accountant
  • 5+ years of relevant working experience within Controlling and Auditing, preferably in an international setting
  • Consulting experience would be welcome
  • Affinity with IT systems (such as Cognos Controller, Cognos BI and Sage)
  • Good communication skills, able to influence and convince various levels of professionals
  • Take ownership and get things done
  • Ability and willingness to take on a broad role

Finance

The Group Finance and Control team comprises of Financial Planning & Analysis, Financial Accounting and Consolidation and functional Business Controllers that support the different operating functions at the Group level. The team is responsible for managing the annual financial reporting cycle within the Group, prepare internal and external financial reports, drive process improvements and support the finance teams within the different clusters and business units. It’s a diverse and international group of finance professional, with varying backgrounds and levels of experience
